Fly In Formation - Nohsur & Jimmy Burnett

For episode 102 I talked with 2 Edmontonian artists Nohsur & Jimmy Burnett. Nohsur has been rhyming for 20 or so years but just dropped his first solo project, "Peels" completely produced by Jimmy, so we talked about the vibe, the creation process, and the roll out. We also talked about supporting local, acting skills on stage, Edmontonian underground brothers, the sound of Canadian Hip Hop, anti-influences, drunken freestyles, and their long history on the Edmonton rap scene. All that, plus a forecast of what's dropping next, and a lot of other important stuff.

After this I ended up talking with Jimmy more, and he shared that he’d recently landed a grant with the Edmonton Arts Council and forgot to bring it up on FiF. He was very stoked, as am I. We talked quite a bit about how I really need to get around to finding some grant money for these shows.

JImmy and I also spoke about how I’m intending to take him up on his offer to do a project. Writing sober sounds like a good time and a good reason to drop some music with Jimmy, I can’t miss that chance. I’ll get the songs we already did last year online asap here. In further Jimmy B news that he forgot to mention on Fly In Formation - He also just sent me an unmixed, unreleased track: his next single, called “Promises” featuring our homie Self the Bluest Eye. It has a sample of me ranting on FiF where a hook would go, and frankly, it’s an honour to be sampled by such dope lyricists. If any artists want to sample my voice from Fly In Formation go nuts.

Hit follow on Youtube too while you’re at it, I dream of one day having 1000 followers and being able to monetize this show, but it’s still a long road to get there.
