ATSIC Radar 622
New release Canadian Hip Hop that dropped on or before May 30, 2025.
This week Calgary artist and friend of the show Sarafin came through to listen along for a bit as I went through the week’s new releases. He just dropped a surprise EP, “The Source Tape Vol. 1” - available to listen only by purchase, until it sells 4k copies, at which point it’ll hit streaming. Completely by coincidence, that’s also what I was doing with my last EP, “Circles” over on Bandcamp, I just didn’t mention that to anyone. He sent his songs over for ATSIC, so I’ll get something onto an upcoming episode to share with everyone who’s too cheap to shell out the 5 bucks. I bought the album today to help him on the climb to 4k. We talked about the creation of K.Stone’s newest single “Hurricane” - where he pays homage to his late grandmother, singing a rendition of a lullaby she used to sing to him. Sarafin produced the beat and has footage of it that he streamed on Twitch as well. Live streamed studio sessions are the wave, I love that shit.
It’s much more fun to have people to talk with as I listen through the new drops, so it’s always an open invite to artists or friends of mine who want to come through. No obligation to make it through all the music either, just msg me if you see me live on a Friday and want to join me on Zoom to chat for as long or little as you like. Happy to platform people with new music who want to come through - I’ll put your new one to the front of the line and give you my honest opinion.
I pay as much attention to the national scene as I can, but if I’m missing something, let me know. I can’t vouch for everything on this list, it’s just a round up of everything that drops, so listening through and deciding what I like and dislike is part of the fun. I do remove a few tracks as I go through, these playlists always start with more music than they end with. I try not to be too judgmental, and keep in mind that I’m not always the target audience. I also know that artists who make a song I dislike might make a song I do like the next week. I appreciate artists who release a lot of music, and never want to dissuade anyone from putting their works into the world. I’m not trying to gate-keep anything. Everyone should like what they like, I’m just picking what I like and having some laughs, but it’s not that serious.
I usually stream while I listen to the entire playlist, so if you want to come through and hear what I have to say about each song live, hit Twitch.tv/doobyis on Fridays or over the weekend afternoons. This week I listened to the first 60 songs on the drive home from long weekend camping. I wasn’t going to inflict 7 hours of unheard indie rappers on the campfire over the weekend, but my wife knew what she was getting into when she married me. There were a few parts that got muted out from the Wednesday catch up stream where I finished the playthrough, so congrats to the artists who are on their game enough to have the Twitch algo recognize it. Those got cut out in the video below.
Every week I pick the tracks that I like most, buy them, and play them on my show “After The Smoke Is Clear” (#ATSIC) - which you can listen to for free by clicking here.

Thanks for checking in and supporting Canadian Hip Hop.
Stay up.
