Fly In Formation - Lotus James
For episode 110 of Fly In Formation I talked with Lotus James about his new album "Wordplay King" and his ongoing dedication to layered lyricism. There were plenty of bars from the new project to dissect, but we also talked a bit about his upcoming album "Love, Lotus" - as well as whether or not Wordplay King is a pointed diss album, competition in Hip Hop, home studios, balancing family life with music as a side lane, live shows being a lot of drama, and a bunch of other important stuff.
Hit follow on Youtube and Twitch. One day maybe I’ll hit 1000 followers and be able to monetize this show, but it’s still a long road to get there. Twitch subscriptions help keep the lights on, and you get a free one if you link your Amazon Prime to you your Twitch account, so use that to support your favourite streamer each month.
Listen to the audio only version of this episode exclusively at https://www.mixcloud.com/doobyis - where you will also find ongoing weekly mixes of 100% Canadian new release Hip Hop on my show "After the Smoke Is Clear" (#ATSIC) - each episode is followed by an interview with an artist, tap in and support the scene.
These interviews happen Tuesdays on Twitch - I’m back to weekly episodes in September - come by and catch them live on Twitch, watch them a couple days later on Youtube or listen to the audio only version of Fly in Formation - attached after an hour long mix of new indie rap on After the Smoke is Clear at https://www.mixcloud.com/doobyis. The audio from this one will be due up after an episode soon.
Everyone’s welcome to drop in for the live streams on Twitch, say what’s up, or suggest a question to the guest. If it’s a good one, I might even pretend I thought of it myself.
