Fly In Formation 145 - Def3
On episode 145 I talked once more with Def3, an emcee, producer and graff writer based in Vancouver. Last time we talked he was telling me about his intentions to bring boom bap lyricism to the EDM crowd with a barrage of new music that he was still waiting to release back then. Now he’s started that process with a string of singles and a series of shows blending the genres, so we caught up on the situation and the evolution of his intentions. He’s decided to pull back a bit from the festival scene and now he’s talking about his next projects bringing things a bit closer back to his roots, while still incorporating new sounds here and there. We talked about whether festival shows are the only ones worth playing these days, the scourge of AI invading music, exactly how many of his songs had been used to train that AI, the differences and similarities between the fans of Hip Hop and the fans of EDM, the (somewhat justified, if uneducated) reasons EDM fans tend to hate Hip Hop, the importance of building an international fan base, plans to tour America and hope for the best, his upcoming projects, the need for artists to allow access to their entire lifestyle, his new podcast, and a bunch of other really important stuff. Always a great talk with this guy.
