Fly In Formation 138 - Tone Chop & Frost Gamble
It’s always fun talking with guys who really know one another like brothers, you get some insights that you might otherwise not hear - and that’s exactly how this went. I’ve spoken with Frost Gamble before, but this time Tone Chop joined the call from the hall. I apologize for the sound quality. Frost G and I are both pretty decent, but we keep it gritty here at Fly in Formation and I don’t really enforce any type of audio standards - as long as I can tell what’s being said, I’m happy to have artists spend time talking with me - I don’t pay for these interviews and as such I can’t be picky, only appreciative of the effort it takes to join the call and put up with some guy grilling you for 2 hours. I know some of my audiophile friends might not be able to stomach the reverb on Tone’s phone, but I suggest people give it a try because TC has plenty of gems to drop throughout this talk and the audio does get better midway when he starts yelling at us more!
We talked about a lot on this one, lock in for a double dose of conversation that covered a bit of everything - battle raps of the past; long distance recording; writing techniques; holding each other down like brothers; raising musicians and training a potential hypeman; being trolled by your offspring; getting the promotional roll out right for an album that feels like a pinnacle; and a bunch of other really important stuff.
