Another batch of new releases in Hip Hop from across Canada for 2026! Plenty will be good, some will be bad - sorting through them is part of the fun. Quick heads up on this one: it's going up after the fact. I listened through the whole list and made my picks like always, I just never got the post up that week, and I didn't actually buy any of the picks until the big buying stream, where I copped around 130 songs from the last two months in one sitting. That VOD is embedded above. The tracks I liked still got bought and played on ATSIC, so better late than never, and now the archive's complete if anyone in the future wanted to know what dropped this week.
I pay as much attention to the national scene as I can, but if I'm missing something, let me know. I do remove a few tracks as I listen through myself. These playlists always start with more music than they end with because sometimes artists make songs in other genres and they just don't gel. I'm not trying to break brains here. I try not to be too judgmental of anything, and keep in mind that I'm not always the target audience. I also know that artists who make a song I dislike might make a song I do like the next week. I appreciate artists who release a lot of music, and never want to dissuade anyone from putting their works into the world. I'm not trying to gate-keep anything. Everyone should like what they like, I'm just picking what I like and promoting that in an effort to build the scene and appreciation for it.
I usually stream while I listen to the entire playlist.
